I'm feeling the tug away from the studio and into my gardens now that the days have turned to spring. In the studio my paintings still have the lingering look of the colors of fall. This little original oil was inspired by a Ridgway Colorado view that I spotted after a day of plein air painting at the Dennis Weaver Park. I put the finishing touches on it tonight and hope that others find a sense of quiet and peacefulness in this tranquil mountain scene.

I have always lived along the Rocky Mountains throughout western Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. I am thrilled to still be able to live next to the San Juan Mountains on the western slope of Colorado where I have a wealth of beautiful imagery to choose from. When not painting, I spend time with my husband, 2 Jack Russells and enjoying my gardening and backyard wildlife.
Creativity and fine arts has been a driving force in my life since childhood. I earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Colorado State University and since then have taken numerous workshops under professional artists including Jill Carver, Leah Gusterson and Mike Simpson.

Art on Trout Road 2014 in Montrose Colorado
Looking forward to Art on Trout Road 2014 and thrilled to be invited to show again with Bill Wilson (ceramics) at his home studio, along with artists Ron Hoeksema (abstract oils and serigraphs) and Paul Wiesner (pottery). Bill has been so gracious to host this event in his home for about 25 years now! I am excited to reveal my new art tiles. These are ceramic tiles from my original paintings perfect for gift giving or a bright spot in your office or wall.

Art on Trout Road
It's been a hectic couple of months gearing up for the Art on Trout Road show. I've been busy creating paintings in a new size for me... 6x6 inch cradled canvas. I've shown a few of the new ones previously on here and Facebook. What a fun size to try new concepts, different compositions, and enabling a freedom to experiment and try more palette knife work, more abstracted works and to play with those images that have been on my mind but I haven't wanted to commit to a large painting. I have learned so much and have created little slices of the western and southwestern landscape in an affordable size. Some of these may evolve into larger paintings.
So next weekend, November 20th & 21st is the Art on Trout Road weekend in Montrose, CO with Bill Wilson, ceramics and Kurt Isgreen, watercolor landscapes. Should be great fun and as always, enjoyable to visit with all and talk art.
